Halloween Preview 4/4

Halloween is tomorrow night! Be sure to swing by the Living Room at 10 PM so you can catch our entire showcase!

For our final preview, we turn it over to a quote from April Sandmeyer:

"[Maya Cabellero]'s musical style captures the flavor of her Southwestern stomping ground with the urban flair of her NYC roots. As her audience is captivated by her beauty, her emotionally powerful songs cry the unspoken voices of tragedies she has encountered in her travels. She sings her heart out with true love and passion! Bring tissues and expect to get choked up, but know that in the darkness is an Aurelia Borealis about to break through!"

Halloween Preview 3/4

We've decided to hand the desciption over to a few quotes to capture the essense of Borts Minorts.

Borts Minorts! From San Francisco, California! A deranged performance/dance ensemble led by a monobrowed spastic encased in a white hooded unitard. Ridiculous dance moves are enacted on stage with a duo of pretty ladies like a low-budget Xanadu as Mr. Borts Minorts whoops and hollers through a barrage of frenetic cut and paste disco songs. Think Leigh Bowery choreographed by Richard Simmons.
Fatty Jubbo - DJ - WFMU CHICAGO -

I have no idea how to describe San Francisco's Borts Minorts. He's more performance art than musician. It's definitely bizarre. And hilarious. He confused nearly everyone... Decked out in a white, hooded unitard and playing a bass made out of a ski, he was like if one of the Residents decided to become an aerobics instructor.

Breakthrough Radio live performance Wednesday!

On Wednesday October 28 at 7:00 PM, TRTE will be playing a live show for Breakthrough Radio, another internet radio station. They have asked us to bring a small crowd (10-15 people), and we'd like to open it up to you! Come see us play a live set for the radio! Don't miss a perfect opportunity for those of you who are not late-nighters to see us earlier and a rare opportunity for the rest of you to see us play out of costume (but still in character!).

Email us at theRenaldoTHEensemble@gmail.com if you're interested! But please only RSVP if you know you can make it, since space is so limited.

Happy Friday, everyone. A few orders of business today. First of all, the second performance of Radio Purgatory is tonight. Click here for tickets.

Second, it's time for part two of the Halloween Preview! Today we're featuring Matt Kanelos.

A Chicago native, Matt Kanelos studied classical and jazz piano at Chicago Musical College before moving to New York City. He developed his songwriting concept while studying creative writing at the City College of New York. Matt's lyrical stylings and minimalist musical aesthetic bring to mind influences like Neil Young, Leonard Cohen, Will Oldham, Cat Power, and Sufjan Stevens. Matt performs frequently in New York City with his band, The Smoth Maria.

For those of you who don't know, we recently did a live performance/interview for Art International Radio's internet radio station ARTonAIR.org. It's up here, and it sounds great!

Halloween Preview 1 of 4

As we prepare for our Hallween show, we thought it would be good to give you a little preview of each of the guest artists who are joining us. So without further ado, I give you Banjamin J Mansavage Klein, AKA Tubabox the Doppelganger:

Out of home electronics, cardboard, and a tuba comes the Ubu-esque character of Tubabox the Doppelganger. As a motivational speaker, Tubabox the Doppelganger strives to manifest the true Rankian nature of the individual and society. His Halloween speech is entitled "The Uselessness of Yourself, The Uselessness of Your Children." His booming voice spits out mottled language in a shower of profane noise that's meant to strip away your shell of decency like moldy paint from a wall.

Check back in between now and Halloween for the rest of the previews!
